- "The human visual system can be adjusted depending upon various self decision factors with certain features emphasized. This concept is implemented into an automatic pattern recognition scheme for geometric shapes within a two-dimensional image. These objectives are obtained by employing multilevel, parallel processed image transformations. The image concept has been restricted to a sampled and digitized two-dimensional image and the detection and recognition of a set of proposed standard geometric test shapes. The two-dimensional sampling arrays under consideration are the rhombic, square and staggered square sampling lattices with each sampling lattice having a specific area sample shape"--Abstract, page ii
