"This thesis develops methodology for the activation of C-X (X=H, Cl) bonds by transition metals. 2/4-Substituted alkyl pyridines such as cyclohexyl, adamantyl, hydroxyethyl and hydroxymethyl pyridines have been synthesized in moderate to good yields using [Fe[[superscript II]](Pic)2(Py)2] as a catalyst in pyridine/acetic acid under Gif conditions.
